Throughout the years Wanna Go Fit's founder, Keyuna Milam, has helped a wide spectrum of clients to achieve their fitness goals.  Ms. Milam has helped soldiers make weight and fitness requirements for their fitness training testing.  Among the other list of success stories include past clients who have had physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy and Ehlers Danlos syndrome.  Ms. Milam has helped clients as young as 15 and as old as 70.  Whatever your needs may be, it is still possible to reach goals.  Ms. Milam encourages you to "Bring your A game!” We can do this one pound at a time. 

My name is Treva Gordon, and I was trained under Keyuna Milam for the Get Fit Challenge for 3 months. During this challenge I lost more than 10 pounds and several inches. I lost 3 pant sizes and feel like I am in the best shape of my life.

Ms. Milam was very caring and was professional at all times. Our fitness workout consisted of lots of cardio, abs, conditioning, and extensive fitness training. I was able to eat healthier and drink more water. As a result my health has greatly improved and my endurance is stronger than ever before.

I had been on my journey for a while and after moving to Ft Campbell I needed to continue it. I happened to run up on an article that had been published of Keyuna doing a fitness training at local church in the area. I wasn’t looking for a trainer; in fact I had purchased running shoes at the beginning of December 2010 and claimed that I had decided to get started on my own.  I packed the “gym bag” and it stayed in my car. It was January 3rd 2011 and I had still haven’t even made It to the Gym. We all know you can use Campbell Yard Sales to find almost anything and that’s when I saw the ad for the “Friendly Neighborhood Trainer”.  Before Reading her ad I went to her website and starting seeing all the success everyone else was having.

 

I thought if they can do it….so can I! Now let me pause and give you a little history on me.  I am 25 years old.  I come from a family of very large people. I was always the smallest one; I am 5’6 and have never weighed over 160 at my very heaviest.  I joined the army right after high school 2003. Within two years met my husband. It is now 2005 and I am married and HAPPY!!!  Over the course of the next few years I have given birth to 3 beautiful children. Their birthdays are 6/7/07, 7/6/09, 8/5/10.  They are now 3, 18mo, and 5 mo. On top of having three kids, I also work fulltime and go to school at night.  My schedule is CRAZY!!  I never thought my weight was an issue until people would comment on Facebook and ask me who all those pictures where of that skinny girl, or when people came to my house and would ask who that was in my wedding photos! I wanted to crawl under a rock and die.

 

Keyuna came to my house on January 7th and the work has begun. I believe I weighed in at 257! Almost double what I should weigh! But Let me tell you I LOVE this girl. She is so motivating it’s ridiculous.  I see her three times a week and each time we work things get easier.  I can’t begin to tell you how different I feel already! My first weigh in is February 7th 2011, my goal is to lose 10lbs. The ultimate goal is to return to a pre-pregnancy weight of around 160.  Check back to see how I do.

I wanted to say thank you for believing in me. I know it's been a couple of years but you got me started. You were encouraging and introduced me to new foods that I now wouldn't dare go without. I am really glad to see that you are back working this business. this world needs you. I believe I started my journey with you at 268. I am now 124 and happy; posting pics for others to be encouraged. It hasn't been easy, but it has been worth it. love you!

You name it, I’ve tried it. 7 day diet, Akins, Weight watchers, Quick Weight lose and even the diet doctor.  Every diet I have been on I would lose but eventually gain back and than some. Most of my life I have been a plus size gal. I have a family and would spend all my time pleasing them. In November 07 I decided to change that. I told myself I am not a bad mom if I start taking care of myself. Leaving the kids with someone for an hour a day is not going to hurt them emotionally 20 years from now. My husband is a grown man he should be able to cook or pick up his own dinner every now and than. It was a hard decision for me to make and finding the time to do it took a lot of effort.

 

 I started my changes slowly. I gave up fried foods. I gave up sweet tea. That was hard coming from the south. I started drinking diet green tea and making healthier choices. After about 2 months of eating better I decided I should try some exercise. My knees had, had it so I was limited to what I could do. I read a pamphlet on belly dancing and decided to give it a try.  After I lost my first 40 pounds I decided it was time to up my game. I thought I should take some aerobic classes. This is when I met Keyuna. It was rough at first. I felt like I could not keep up with the class. Gradually I started to see a change in my work out. I could do exercises I have never been able to do. I have more energy. I have taken kickboxing, boot camp, Strengthen & toning classes and on occasion water aerobics. I try to walk 3 mornings a week. I am proud to say I have lost 75 pounds and hope to lose 75 more pounds by the end of this year. I finally learned it’s not about being on a diet, it’s about portion control and making healthier choices and of course you have got to keep it moving!

I saw the advertisement for this boot camp randomly when looking through the riata page. I have been overweight for a while, but have always enjoyed working out when I got around to it. So I excitedly signed up and dragged a couple of my girlfriends with me. It was the best choice we have made this year. We all lost over ten pounds in our first session and it jump started our journey to being healthy. We were scared before we first stared since we hadn’t ever done something like this, but we dove in anyway. We were able to see improvement from our barely moving bodies in the beginning . I would recommend this group to anyone, no matter what size.  The coach is energetic, funny and always had alternate moves for the “less advanced” :).  I am hopeful for this new healthier lifestyle I’ve chosen.

My clothes fit great and close to dropping a pant size.  A have a pair of smaller jeans that already fit!  Another non-scale victory, at the beginning of boot camp, I was not able to do partner sit-ups very well and today on our last day, I did all three rounds at a faster pace and got myself up every time!! 

 

My husband is now down 25 lbs and has been primarily changing his eating habits. 

 

Thank you for the motivation I needed!! I will be back for the next session!  I'm so proud of myself!!

Does anyone need a CPR re-certification (or a first time cert)? I had Keyuna Milam recert 10 physical therapists and exercise physiologists through the Red Cross this morning. I met Keyuna in Abingdon. Maryland. Like so many I "knew" all the things that I was supposed to do. I had worked at Jenny Craig guiding & mentoring other to drop those unwanted pounds. Goodness, I could drop pounds and I could also pick them up again!

Our first meeting was Feb 10, 2016. 10 days before my 64th birthday! I was tired of the "cycle". I truly wanted to drop those pounds and leave them where they fell!

Keyuna has been "the one" to instill in me my current mindset. When I started my journey I was 196.2 lbs. I was wearing a size 12 slacks and yes, some were snug; especially jeans.My top size was a L/XL. As of today, June 21, 2018- I am wearing a size 6 slacks; jeans too! And they are not snug! I weigh 150.5 lbs! Whoo hoo! My top size is S/M. I feel great!

Personally, I have FINALLY learned it is our :mindset" that sets us up for success.

It's: One Pound at a Time; One Meal at a Time; One day at a time.

It's about; Motivation, Consistency, Persistency, Determination and yeah...Discipline.

Keyuna helped and guided me form the "foundation" for my "mindset". Her nudges during my workouts when I was pooped! Her words of motivation when I "fell off the wagon". Her support when I did good. My fitness/weight loss journey began with Keyuna in 2017. I contacted Keyuna because I was interested in looking fabulous in a gown I wanted to wear for my violin recital.
