Heather Borres participated in the Southside Biggest Loser Contest and won! Here's her story...
I'm excited to be Southsides Biggest Loser! Not only did I win $350 and the title, I've got a boost of energy I haven't experienced in years! Another awesome thing that has happened is I am no longer taking two of my Lupus medications, that I've been on since 1999.
Through our monthly BL meetings, Keyuna and the 'Healthy Eating' handouts taught me to eat healthier and make better choices. I enjoy cooking at home. Frying foods & using too much salt & butter is a habit I have changed. When I can't prepare a healthy meal at home, I choose the grilled chicken or fish on the menu. I have also started a walking program. While on vacation, I enjoyed walking on the beach. That did not seem like exercise but it did help me reach my personal goal. In January, I decided to improve my appearance before my big "40" birthday in September. Several of my friends have commented on the changes in me and that also makes me feel good about winning.

I finally learned it’s not about being on a diet, it’s about portion control and making healthier choices and of course you have got to keep it moving!-Holli Stevens
Keyuna is a great personal trainer and cares about the people who attend her boot camp. She wants everyone to be successful and gives you great tips and advice on how to lost weight and keep it off. By attending boot camp, it gave me the boost in helping me lose weight.Dana Knox
When I started working with Keyuna, I couldn't even do one real push-up. After working with her for 6 weeks, I can do 25 in a minute, took more than 20 seconds off my mile time, and lost weight and body fat. She coaches me to be my best and do more than I thought I could do, all while teaching me about exercise, diet, and overall fitness. The best trainer ever!Dessia Laxton-Reinke
My name is Shirlonda Taylor. I am 33 years old and this was me at my heaviest, 225 lbs! Wow, yeah that's what I said. This picture was taken exactly 12 months ago. I moved to Ft. Campbell, Ky on November 1, 2009 and I promised myself that I wasn't going on a diet, but that I was going to make a lifestyle change.
I would go to the gym about 2-3 times a week. I was exercising but, wasn't getting the feeling that that my body was changing. Don't get me wrong I was losing some weight, but not like I wanted. So, I decided to try Cardio Pump (a group fitness class offered at the gym) and I met Keyuna. This lady had motivation and determination in her workout and I was so impressed with her. I took almost all of her classes; then one day I went to her and told her I loved her classes. I told her how often times I wanted to quit during the class, but she kept saying, "You can do it. The last one is the best one!"
I wanted that determination to rub off on me. She then told me that she was a personal trainer, and I told her that I needed some help.
My world opened up to a whole new outlook of working out. I have been with Keyuna for almost 5 months now, and I have lost 40 lbs!
I'm so proud of myself because I had the determination and dedication to keep it moving. It's 90% mental and 10% physical. Once you have it,; truly have it: your lifestyle will change. I have to say I have had a trainer before, but Keyuna you really changed my life and I thank you for showing me the way.

here is my update. I still workout at least 4-5 times a week. 3 days cardio/strength training and 2 days of circuit. I enjoy Hip Hop class, and I have been doing different cardio. Doing suicides on the basketball court. My friends have been asking me for help and I am really excited that they all want to b apart of this change with me. Even though I am now in Texas I still talk to my trainer Keyuna she motivates me from afar. It really makes me feel good inside to have support. This has been a great year so far and it will only get better. I am going to try hiking because I it seems fun and I am starting to love the outdoors. Thanks for all the information that you continue to provide me with.Still five pounds away from my goal but I'm sure I will get that off in a few. Thanks for the support everyone.

My name is Nakelia "Peaches" Boykin. In 2009, I was diagnosed with Ehlersdanlos Syndrome, a heredity connective tissue disorder. This was a relief because I was starting to believe that everyone, including my doctors were , thought I was a hypochondriac. My biggest challenge with EDS came when I was balancing my 5 kids, working, and completing my online graduate classes.
While my husband took up the slack on my "mommy duties" I did a lot of sitting in front of the computer with tons of books and papers. This resu;ted in an unbelievable amount of pain and stiffness. My arthritis became worse, and there would be days when I would wake up and sit on the side of the bed and cry before putting on my brave face and going about my normal life.
As, I was finishing up graduate school, my husband told me that the day I graduate he had a lady for me to meet. I must admit that I was a little skeptical about this personal trainer, because I knew she was going to make me do a whole lot of rigorous exercises and cause my condition to be worse.
Much to my surprise, Keyuna has helped me tremendously. Although I still have days which are not pain free, I have learned from Keyuna how to manage it, and "keep it moving!"

I would like to thank you for giving me the knowledge were I am able to maintain my body on my own, if it wasn't for you i would not know how to do all the things I do not to stay fit. You have been great in my life and I'm glad you still here to help empower, and motivate others. Thanks again your awesome
Through personal training with Keyuna it has helped me with my outlook onlife. It cut down my stress levels and increased my flexiablity. It made me aware of the need for life long balance.

Holli Stevens is one of my truly dedicated followers. She has been a personal training client, faithful exercise class member, boot camps, and then everything else she does. This was written in November of 2008. Since then Holli has lost another 35 lbs! in the Southside Biggest Loser Contest. Here's her story...
You name it, I’ve tried it. 7 day diet, Adkins, Weight watchers, Quick Weight lose, and even the diet doctor. Every diet I have been on I would lose but eventually gain back and than some. Most of my life I have been a plus size gal. I have a family and would spend all my time pleasing them. In November 07 I decided to change that. I told myself I am not a bad mom if I start taking care of myself. Leaving the kids with someone for an hour a day is not going to hurt them emotionally 20 years from now. My husband is a grown man he should be able to cook or pick up his own dinner every now and than. It was a hard decision for me to make and finding the time to do it took a lot of effort.
I started my changes slowly. I gave up fried foods. I gave up sweet tea. That was hard coming from the south. I started drinking diet green tea and making healthier choices. After about 2 months of eating better I decided I should try some exercise. My knees had, had it so I was limited to what I could do. I read a pamphlet on belly dancing and decided to give it a try. After I lost my first 40 pounds I decided it was time to up my game. I thought I should take some aerobic classes. This is when I met Keyuna. It was rough at first. I felt like I could not keep up with the class. Gradually I started to see a change in my work out. I could do exercises I have never been able to do. I have more energy. I have taken kickboxing, boot camp, Strengthen & toning classes and on occasion water aerobics. I try to walk 3 mornings a week. I am proud to say I have lost 75 pounds and hope to lose 75 more pounds by the end of this year. I finally learned it’s not about being on a diet, it’s about portion control and making healthier choices and of course you have got to keep it moving!
"feels great.... Thanks to Keyuna .... one great Total Body class...B.Allen
Thanks again for helping me get healthier, and having fun while doing it...sometimes. LOL

When I decided to ask Mrs. Keyuna to be my personal trainer I feared that I wouldn't be able to commit and it would just become another weight loss attempt but after experiencing the first few weeks with her I knew that this was more than an attempt, it is a life changing experience. I absolutely love working out with Mrs. Keyuna because not only does she keep me motivated but she educates me about certain work outs and the food I eat. Since training under her I have lost close to 20 pounds within 2 months and I feel great . I have so much energy and I smile all the time. I have lost weight but gained confidence.

I wasn’t looking for a trainer; in fact I had purchased running shoes at the beginning of December 2010 and claimed that I had decided to get started on my own. I packed the “gym bag” and it stayed in my car. It was January 3rd 2011 and I had still haven’t even made It to the Gym. We all know you can use Campbell Yard Sales to find almost anything and that’s when I saw the ad for the “Friendly Neighborhood Trainer”. Before Reading her ad I went to her website and starting seeing all the success everyone else was having.
I thought if they can do it….so can I! Now let me pause and give you a little history on me. I am 25 years old. I come from a family of very large people. I was always the smallest one; I am 5’6 and have never weighed over 160 at my very heaviest. I joined the army right after high school 2003. Within two years met my husband. It is now 2005 and I am married and HAPPY!!! Over the course of the next few years I have given birth to 3 beautiful children. Their birthdays are 6/7/07, 7/6/09, 8/5/10. They are now 3, 18mo, and 5 mo. On top of having three kids, I also work fulltime and go to school at night. My schedule is CRAZY!! I never thought my weight was an issue until people would comment on Facebook and ask me who all those pictures where of that skinny girl, or when people came to my house and would ask who that was in my wedding photos! I wanted to crawl under a rock and die.
Keyuna came to my house on January 7th and the work has begun. I believe I weighed in at 257! Almost double what I should weigh! But Let me tell you I LOVE this girl. She is so motivating it’s ridiculous. I see her three times a week and each time we work things get easier. I can’t begin to tell you how different I feel already! My first weigh in is February 7th 2011, my goal is to lose 10lbs. The ultimate goal is to return to a pre-pregnancy weight of around 160. Check back to see how I do.
As of Lindsay's last weigh in she has lost 10 lbs and 13 inches off of her body measurements.
Treva Gordon:
I feel great that this fitness experience was great! I wish I could have been better disaplined in my eating. There were improvements but still I could have been better. I realize I must be honest with myself when it comes to my fitness regime. I learned a lot., have lost some inches, and want to contine working towards my new healthier lifestyle.
